MAKAR SANKRANTI 

The new year brings with it the warmth of happiness through celebrations. The auspicious harvest festival, ‘MAKAR SANKRANTI’  is celebrated across India by different names. The northern region celebrates ‘LOHRI’, ‘KITE FESTIVAL’ is celebrated in the west, ‘PONGAL’ in the South and eastern states of India celebrates ‘BIHU’ to express the joyous arrival of this opportune day.

Amrita Nursery celebrated Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm on January 13 2022, as their teachers explained them the importance of this day.

Nursery Activity:-  A short video on MakarSankranti, Lohri, and Pongal was shown to the students. A ‘Kite’ and a ‘Bonfire’ with various water-coloured ice cream sticks were initiated as the ‘Makar Sankranti’ activity. Children enjoyed this activity as they expressed their happiness while decorating their kite.

Jr.KG Activity :- Jr.kg. kids celebrated this festival by making a Pongal Pot on a Kite.

Sr.KG Activity :- Children were introduced to all three festivals Pongal, Lohri &  Makar Sankranti through a short video. Celebrating Makar Sankranti means flying kites,which is a great part of the festival during the day. The whole family enjoys kite flying and at that time the sky is filled with a lot of colourful kites. So students of Sr.KG designed a kite and decorated a card. Children enjoyed the activity to the core.
