Amrita Vidyalayam believes that the current generation should be made aware about the importance of Indian festivals because each festival is celebrated with a significant purpose. It is our soulful duty to imbibe the traditional practices in our children. Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival was celebrated on the 14th of January 2022 all across India. The southern regions of India celebrate Makar Sankranti as Pongal, Bihu in the eastern parts, Lohri in the northern regions and Kite flying in the western regions of India with great enthusiasm and spirituality.

Teachers of classes I – V celebrated Makar Sankranti with their beloved students. They informed about the importance and the traditions followed by some interesting activities. Icecream stick kites and paper kites were made, traditional thalis were decorated with sweets and fruits. Pongal pots were painted beautifully. Greeting cards were designed with handwritten messages and wishes for their near and dear ones.
