VACCINATION DRIVE
As per circular no. 2382/2021 issued by the Dpty. Commissioner – NMMC (Education dept), a Vaccination camp was arranged in the school premises of Amrita Vidyalayam for the students of age group 15-18 years (Classes IX-XII) which was scheduled on 4/1/2022 (Tuesday) from 9am-4pm . The school geared up to bolster the free vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group as the Health & well-being of our children is our topmost priority.
We immediately sent the circular and all the necessary details to parents, informing them about the vaccination drive to be conducted in school premises. Parents had been given the option of accompanying their children to school on the day they get the vaccine. Teachers were reaching out to students and parents to create awareness by encouraging and motivating them to get vaccinated through this drive since it was easily accessible. They also reiterated the need to strictly follow the SOPs for safe operation of schools & avoid any gatherings. The Municipal Health Officials headed by Dr. Pushpa took initiative to conduct the vaccination drive in our school.
As the state stands on the threshold of a third wave of Covid-19, our students after having their healthy breakfast, enthusiastically thronged the school to get their jabs and even urged the reluctant classmates to join them. To avoid crowd and gatherings, time slots were given to the students as mentioned—Classes X and XII from 9 am-12.00 pm and classes IX & XI from 12.00 pm -3.30 pm. Parents were asked to register their wards in Cowin Application (www.cowin.gov.in) before 4/1/2022 as prior registration was mandatory. Students carried their Aadhar Card and the mobile with registration number to receive an O.T.P for vaccination. A full-fledged necessary arrangements including the facility for onsite registration was provided in the school to conduct this vaccination drive smoothly and successfully. Out of 294 students, 108 girls and 117 boys i.e 74% of boys and 79% of girls of our school took the jab successfully. Students were inoculated covaxin .
Our school gave this drive maximum support as this programme gives priority to strengthen the country’s health care system as well as protecting the most vulnerable population groups based on scientific and epidemiological evidence.
