Teachers of Amrita Vidyalayam were in for a surprise when they were asked to assemble in the Auditorium. The 9th and 10th grade students took over their classes, leaving the teachers to enjoy a Teachers’ Day special specially put together by the cultural committee under the guidance of Brni. Rekha. Earlier, in the morning, teachers were presented with a rose and chocolate by their students.
The celebrations started with a prayer. The cultural committee welcomed Principal Brni. Rekha with a bouquet and asked her to speak a few words. Quoting Dr. S Radhakrishnan’s famous words the Principal addressed the teachers and said “Teachers should have beautiful minds”. Her speech was very engaging as it contained thoughtful stories which addressed the mindset of the current generation. The essence of the speech was the impact of education in recent times: learning used to be life before, now it is for earning. As the ready access to knowledge through online resources has undoubtedly redefined the role of a teacher, she urged the teachers to go beyond fulfilling their roles by being an inspiration to their students.
Soon after the speech, Amma’s blessings by way of a beautiful saree was gifted to all the teachers.
