Republic Day 2022

The spirit of unity and of being one nation is celebrated each year on the 26th of January. We were fortunate to witness India’s 73rd Republic Day this year. It is an occasion to celebrate our Indianness. Our Indian Constitution came into effect in 1950 and the values of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity were outlined in the Preamble Of our Constitution. It is an honour to be a part of this democratic country whose diversity and vibrancy is appreciated worldwide.

We believe that patriotism strengthens the sense of duty among all the citizens, especially children and hence Republic Day was celebrated virtually by our students. However, the staff of Amrita Vidyalayam, Juinagar physically celebrated this day in a ‘low-key affair’ due to the ongoing pandemic situation where certain criteria (eg. Maintaining adequate physical distancing and being masked throughout the function)  had to be taken into consideration.

Pujya swami, Avyayamritanandapuriji was greeted by everyone and the celebration began as he urflured the national flag. The National Anthem was sung by all after the Flag Salute. Swamiji then addressed the staff with a short speech where he not only remembered the great freedom fighters who showed incomparable courage in the pursuit of the dream of Swaraj but also saluted the value of Indian Fraternity – all our frontline workers, doctors, paramedics, nurses, healthcare administrators and most importantly the teachers who ensured that the education for all their students continued. The quadrangle resonated with the sound of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind” as the entire staff repeated these slogans with Swamiji’s unshakable voice.

A melodious patriotic song “Aye Watan, aye watan humko teri kasam” was sung by Ms. Sumita Sarkar (Music tr), Ms. Asawari and Ms. Shikha. It was indeed enjoyed by everyone.

The school Principal, Ms. Kanchan Dayal took up the stage and spoke a few lines on how the entire nation came together to strengthen each other by celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Our school’s active participation contributes as our fundamental and sacred national duty towards the nation. She promised to go forward with same dedication and ensured that our children will continue to march ahead the path of progress and set new benchmarks of success in the global community.

The day concluded with the National Song and Shanti Mantra.

Jai Hind!!!
