International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year on 21st June since its inception in the year 2015. Yoga itself is a very old practice that is followed in India since time immemorial. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. Yoga’s aim is not only to heal body but to purify all three: Mind, body and soul. As a whole Amrita Vidylayam practiced common IDY protocol on 21st June from 7.30 a.m. onwards led by administrator Brni. Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji. There was also an interesting session on practicing Swara Yoga, by Swara Yoga expert Dr Trupti Tanawade-Digge, Doctor by profession and practicing dentistry in Navi Mumbai for the last 25 years. She is an ardent devotee of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. She is also the disciple of Swami Charanashritji, one of the few masters preserving and teaching the sacred science of Swara Yoga. Dr Trupti explained the benefits of Swara yoga and how to use 2 sides of the brain to its optimum capacity through Swara Yoga. Administrator Brni. Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji conducted the IDY yoga protocol session and talked about various benefits of yoga for students. The IDY protocol included warm up exercises, various sitting and standing asanas and breathing exercises during the session for the students in different batches. 1700 students of class 1 to 12 participated in the yoga session in different slots throughout the day. Teachers also participated enthusiastically in the session organized for them at the end of the day. Pre-primary students performed animal yoga and exhibited the flexibility of their body with different Yoga postures. Overall International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit in the school campus.
