Diwali, the festival of lights and sound, was celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam on 10th November 2023. A special assembly was arranged by the students. The students talked about the significance of the festival – how good always conquered the evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across India. Besides sensitizing students about the ill-effects of crackers, they also shared the guidelines of environment-friendly options for celebrating
Diwali.
A gamut of activities was held to celebrate the festival, which consisted of Diya making and Decoration. Students exhibited their inventiveness by making paper diyas and decorated earthen diyas with vibrant colours. Students expressed their creativity and their art in the form of rangoli making activity. Beautiful lanterns, Torans, pom pom flowers, paper crackers, and tissue paper flowers were also made.
To make Amrita Nursery students acquaint with the culture teachers explained the significance of the festival – like the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil. Stories of Diwali were shown,boards were decorated , students came in colourful dresses. They brought sweets in tiffin and shared with each other by wishing Happy Diwali. Various craft activities were conducted FC3 decorated diya, FC 2 created lantern from paper glass and decorated it. Nursery students made diya with thumb printing and paper sticking in their Drawing Book.
Throughout the celebration of Diwali, all the students participated whole heartedly and with great enthusiasm in the activity of their choice. The activities permeate the school premises with an atmosphere of togetherness and hope. The young students proved that creativity and talent do not have boundaries.
Their radiant faces with the colourful dresses that they wore added a festive fervour to the celebration. It was a joyful experience overall.
