“The connect between parents and students plays a vital role in understanding the areas of interest and can go a long way in helping to shape their career of children” stressed Mr. Faizan Bakshi, Product Head of Extra Marks in a workshop on ‘Career Guidance’ conducted on 18/8/18 in the school auditorium.  In this evolving market, students are exposed to multitude opportunities. The advantages are aplenty. Yet, the confusions are not any less. The Management of Amrita Vidyalayam understands these concerns very well and organized this workshop for parents and students from 9th to 12th grades.

Mr. Bakshi thrust upon 3 main areas to focus while choosing a career: Aptitude, Personality and Interest. Also  of  utmost  importance is to think of the scope of a particular field ahead of time.  He also introduced emerging opportunities in the field of Data Science and Automotive Engineering, which has greater scope in terms of career opportunities.

He answered several questions from parents who were keen to know about fields that are seldom thought as a career path viz. Entrepreneurship, Wildlife photography, astrology, sound engineering, etc.  Mr. Bakshi guided the parents towards the Career Assessment Program-CAP, conducted by Extra Marks. CAP is a scientific tool developed by expert psychologists and approved by the National Psychological Corporation.  It helps students to identify the right stream, course and career selection in accordance with their personality and abilities.  Thereafter, experienced Counselors will guide the students  based on their Report card and help them chart a career path.

The session was very informative for both, parents as well as students and had plenty of questions which were answered patiently.
