Identification and screening of students with special needs. (3 – 6)

A workshop to sensitize the teachers (of grade 3 to grade 6) in their approach towards the students with special needs was organized on 21st April, 2023 in Amrita Vidyalayam.

Counsellor Mrs. Gayatri explained the traits and symptoms exhibited by the students facing learning problems. Teachers enacted role plays to help the co-teachers to understand the strategies to deal better with children. There were activities and games to energise and encourage the participants.

She demonstrated how children with disabilities benefit greatly from being with other children and from receiving consistent care from adults. The learning outcome of the workshop is that children with special needs, need to be looked as what they could be rather than what they are.
