A glorious tribute to Marathi language was paid by the students of Amrita Vidyalayam as a part of Marathi Bhasha Diwas on the occasion of the birth anniversary of noted Marathi litterateur V V Shirwadkar alias ‘Kusumagraj’. The notice boards in the classrooms and in the corridors were beautifully decorated with charts consisting of poems, stories and proverbs in Marathi.
The day started with the morning assembly where the thought and news were read out in Marathi. The confidence of the students while presenting various activities in their mother tongue was a treat to watch. The programme began with Marathi Bhasha Abhimaan Geet “laabhle aamhas bhagya” which was followed by a short speech on “marathi bhashecha janm”. In an effort to enlighten children about the invaluable contribution made by literary giants and social reformers in the field of education, students presented the “vyakti parichay”. They dressed up as Savitribai Phule, P L Dehpande, Shanta Shelkar etc. and spoke with pride about the personality they represented.
A speech on the importance of Marathi Bhasha was followed by a prayer “Namaskar Majha” and a “Pasaydan” by Sant Dyaneshwar. The little students of primary section stole the show at the end with their phonetic presentation of the Barahkhadi.The students were confident on the stage and received encouraging applause from the audience.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Marathi Teacher after which, the teachers and students took the National Pledge in Marathi and the rendered the National Anthem.
